Our Team

At Sierra 1 Stewarding, our security stewarding team is comprised of dedicated professionals who are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients and their events. Our security stewards are not only highly trained but also possess a wealth of experience in managing various types of gatherings, from large-scale public events to intimate private functions.

Andrew Simpson

Director 

Andy has over 30 years of experience working in events and security industry.  Andy started his career working events at Wembley Stadium, Earls Court and the Docklands Arena. Before founding S1SS he worked as an operations manager responsible for providing stewarding and security for a number of number of high profile clients from small intimate gigs to massive events. He is also a fully licenced and experienced close protection provider and has travelled the world ensuring the safety of some really famous names.  Andy started S1SS in 2020 determined to set the standard of customer service in the security sector. 

Beth Wickstone

Operations Manager

Beth started working as a steward in 2015. Her many years of experience in the events and catering industry quickly shone through and she began working as a supervisor. She was soon promoted to Assistant Operations Manager taking on more of a role planning and organising events during the week and because there is no rest for the wicked... working them at the weekends. Beth has joined S1SS as an operations manager

Tom Wickstone

Operations Manager

Tom has worked in events since 2017 and can barely keep track of all the events he has worked since he has started. He has been all over the country and worked in many different roles. He has achieved his SIA door supervisor licence, been a part of recruitment. worked in traffic management and also been in the control room for large events. He is was very excited to be offered the role of trainee operations manager and is hoping to contribute as much as he can to the continued success of S1SS. 

Andrew Basford

Training Manager

Andrew started working in the sports events arena in the early 2000’s and has been involved in
planning and delivery of European Championships, World Championships, World Cups, and the
London 2012 Olympic Games. He came over to the security side of things during the Covid-19
Pandemic, firstly working with Tesco’s and then with S1SS as an SIA DS. Andrew has many years of
experience of working in the control room, firstly with the military, and more recently with S1SS. He
has his DS and CCTV qualifications, and works as an SIA and Supervisor at events for S1SS.
Andrew has now taken on the role of Training Manager, and is looking forward to setting up the Level
2 Spectator Safety course

Elliot Huntley

Recruitment Manager

Elliot brings with him a wealth of experience. He has done various roles across the events industry and leads on recruitment for S1SS. He is also a supervisor so is frequently seen working large scale events. He too has been all across the UK and worked just about every event you could imagine. 

Bob Worm

New Business Development

Bob has over 30 years experience in the events industry. This covers event design and planning, marketing and event management, staff and service procurement and site logistics and Bob is a qualified safety officer and Personal License holder too. Bob joined the S1SS team in 2023 as the new business development officer, tasked with seeking new customers and business and has been fundamental in designing the new Event Staff Service project, our new wing of additional job roles to offer as a one stop shop on a clients event staffing needs.
